Building Leaders is an elective course that is offered for juniors and seniors to teach leadership skills and provide leadership in school activities. Students in Building Leaders implement the Heart of a Champion program in the middle schools and the High School Heroes program in the elementary schools. Building Leaders’ students also participate in service projects in the school and community.

Junior and senior students are selected based on a desire to participate in the class and recommendations from administrators with a focus on realized and unrealized leadership skills of each student and diversity of the class.

Heart of a Champion
Heart of a Champion (HOC) is a middle school program that works with student-athletes on the football team roster throughout each school year. The students participate in team-building, character, and leadership skills activities. Students also have the opportunity to go on field trips to colleges.
High School Heroes
High School Heroes is a program dedicated to expanding the college-going culture by providing college awareness activities in elementary school classrooms. Heroes talk to the students about college and careers and work with them on classroom projects. Heroes also help third grade students develop and present a college fair for parents, community members, and students in other grade levels. High School Heroes are students from the Building Leaders high school program.
